I live and create art in New Orleans. I use pen and pigmented ink to create detailed original images on the blank side of dominoes (which I see as tiny, 3 dimensional canvases). I then combine from one to nearly two thousand of these finished tiles onto canvas board in one to seven layers. Some pieces I embellish with acrylic polymer clay and/or other objects. Pieces have two themes: faces with exaggerated expressions and Louisiana icons/images. Faces are influenced by my background in psychology (a PhD in sensory psychology) and my appreciation of the limitless number of facial expressions. This is my favorite medium given my love of art that is out of scale , repetitive and in the tradition of Andy Warhol, 3D/sculptural and whimsical.
My goal as an artist is to create unique, whimsical, joyful, 3-dimensional pieces that are hard to look away from. I enjoy the process - and challenge - of working with clients to create specific pieces that are just what the client wanted/imagined. So, please don't hesitate to contact me, or the gallery, if you'd like to commission a piece.
